Our 10th year Anniversary of Legislation to Deregulate Clinical Hypnotherapy in Victoria

On 1st January 1998, hundreds of Victorian professional hypnotherapists proudly started to advertise their clinical services to the public as qualified Clinical Hypnotherapists. You may ask the question: “What’s so unusual about that statement?”

On Remembrance day November 11th, 2007, those attending the November CCH General Meeting had the pleasure of hearing from Jeff Berger, Psychologist, Hypnotherapist, and ‘Super-Supervisor’. I had never met Jeff before, but his warmth, humour and humanity were apparent from the start. He was invited to bring to life for us the new CCH Supervision Requirements and to clarify the real and important benefits of Supervision for all of us whether we are newcomers or well established in our career as hypnotherapists.

On Sunday May 4th, myself and fellow hypnotherapists were privileged to have guest lecturer Gary Johnston talk on the subject of Panic attacks and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Gary commenced the lecture with his personal initial experience with a trauma which occurred in Venezuela some years ago and reoccurred during following years in the form of PTSD ( which at the time, was not diagnosed as such ).

Margaret Kelly is an experienced and caring Clinical Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist. Though originally born in Victoria, her home has been on the sunny Gold Coast in Queensland for many years now.

Her initial formal training was in Psychology, studying for and obtaining her Bachelor of Behavioural Science at La Trobe University. In the 1980s, Margaret worked as a supervisor and trainer of counsellors for Jenny Craig’s in Australia,  and went to the USA for the company to open new centres in LA, Chicago and New Orleans. She also has a strong background in sales, management and recruitment, as well as a being a Corporate Trainer.
